Exercise
- Aerobic activity (think brisk walking, running or cycling) increases oxygen consumption during exercise, which can take years off and even stimulate new brain cells.
- Build immunity. Workouts raise the body’s temps to strengthen the immune system over time and may also reduce the risk of breast and prostate cancers by regulating hormone levels.
- Protect your heart. Getting the heart pumping works wonders for decreasing the risk factors associated with heart attacks such as raising good cholesterol, lowering blood pressure and reducing arterial inflammation.
- Balance your blood sugar. A regular sweat session can decrease your risk of type 2 diabetes by increasing sensitivity to insulin and managing weight.
- Lift your mood. Regular aerobic exercise has been shown to be as effective as medication in relieving depression.
- Manage menopause. Gentle exercise like walking and yoga elevates mood and helps manage symptoms of menopause (hello hot flashes).
